TOONED OUT! is a monthly celebration of the cartoons that raised a generation; the loud, colourful, wonderfully unhinged animation of the 1990s and early 2000s. Long before streaming algorithms and endless scrolling, these were the shows you rushed home from school for, quoted in the playground, and somehow still remember decades later.

Each month explores a different theme, from Nickelodeon vs Cartoon Network and Saturday morning favourites to forgotten cult classics, Halloween specials, Christmas episodes, and the wonderfully bizarre corners of animated television. Expect an evening of carefully curated episodes, familiar faces, and the occasional deep cut you haven't thought about since childhood.

This was the golden age of slime, attitude, impossible inventions, talking animals, dysfunctional families, and worlds where absolutely anything could happen in eleven minutes. Whether it was surreal comedy, heartfelt storytelling, or complete cartoon anarchy, these shows shaped a generation and somehow managed to be just as entertaining for the adults they accidentally became.

TOONED OUT! celebrates cartoons as they were always meant to be enjoyed: together. It's for lifelong animation fans, nostalgic millennials, curious newcomers, and anyone who still instinctively knows every word to a theme tune they haven't heard in twenty years.

Downstairs at The Ill Repute, the atmosphere is relaxed, nostalgic, and full of shared memories. Cheap pints, familiar laughs, and a room full of people collectively remembering just how weird children's television used to be.

One Sunday every month. Doors are at 7pm and the cartoons start at 7:30pm sharp. Free entry (donations welcome). Limited seating - entry closes once full.
